FAQ

Q1: What image should I use as source?

Use a square image at least 512Γ—512 pixels. Simple, high-contrast designs work best at small sizes. PNG with transparency is ideal.

Q2: What sizes do I need?

At minimum: 16Γ—16, 32Γ—32 for browser tabs, 180Γ—180 for Apple Touch Icon. For PWAs, add 192Γ—192 and 512Γ—512.

Q3: What's the difference between .ico and .png?

.ico is the traditional format that can contain multiple sizes in one file. PNG favicons are used by modern browsers and mobile devices.

Q4: Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. All favicon generation happens locally in your browser. Your images never leave your device.

Q5: Why does my favicon look blurry?

Small icons need simple designs. If your source has fine details, they'll be lost at 16Γ—16. Consider creating a simplified version for small sizes.
